MITES at WORK
At the Oklahoma District Convention in April of this year, Lutheran Braille workers received a grant for $10,000. Lutheran Braille Workers exists to bring the Word of God to in Braille and Specialized Large Print to the 338 million people throughout the world who are blind or visually impaired. In over 80 years of ministry, Lutheran Braille Workers has produced and distributed over 15 million volumes of Christian material in 40 languages to people in 164 countries. In Oklahoma there are 4 centers that produce Braille and or Large Print Bibles , Zion in Alva, Redeemer in Claremore, Christ the Redeemer in Tulsa, and Holy Trinity in Edmond. This $10,000 grant will enable centers in Oklahoma to produce materials in Braille and Specialized Large Print, potentially helping people living in physical and spiritual darkness access to the scriptures and other devotional materials.
Did you know that when you donate mites 75% stay in the Oklahoma District and 25% goes sent to the National LWML. Grants awarded by the Oklahoma District since1928 to present total $1,406,205.11 Your mites are so important for helping spread God’s word around the world. Please remember to bring your mites and place them in the large mite box in the narthex.
Save the Date for Bunco for Mites: July 25th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Come for an evening of fun and fellowship with your sisters in Christ. Cool off with a root beer float. Bring a friend……suggested donation of $5 for mites.
