Trinity Lutheran Church offers an “English as a Second Language” conversation group. Every year students, researchers, and visiting professors from all over the world (and their families) come to Norman and to the OU community. On Saturday mornings, volunteers from Trinity present talks on topics of interest from Oklahoma and American culture, followed by English language practice in small groups. A Bible study is also offered, and there are wonderful opportunities to make friendships along the way. Join us for one Saturday or for more – no obligation. You’ll be glad you did!

SEPTEMBER NEWS
OU is preparing to start classes for the fall semester, and we here at Trinity are excited about the possibilities for outreach to the OU international community that God has sent to Norman. We are preparing to start up the ESL conversation group with a picnic in Reaves Park on September 9. As always, this is a ministry that is totally dependent up volunteers. (Maybe that could be YOU.) I will have an information table in the narthex. Stop by to learn more and to see if there are ways you might be involved.
Our top needs right now are:
- A driver for the church van to drive for activities or to bring students to church services occasionally.
- Someone to partner with us in coordinating group activities and planning
- Several people to team teach ESLfor those with low English skills (materials and needed training provided). This would be an additional new outreach to the ministry – and much needed!
- People to come occasionally to the Saturday morning meeting to sit in on conversation groups with us.
You may have other ideas of how you’d like to help out. Stop by the table and ask any questions you have or share any ideas. We would love to hear them!
