Trinity Lutheran Church offers an “English as a Second Language” conversation group. Every year students, researchers, and visiting professors from all over the world (and their families) come to Norman and to the OU community. On Saturday mornings, volunteers from Trinity present talks on topics of interest from Oklahoma and American culture, followed by English language practice in small groups. A Bible study is also offered, and there are wonderful opportunities to make friendships along the way. Join us for one Saturday or for more – no obligation. You’ll be glad you did!

MARCH NEWS
We have had some very interesting presentations so far this spring. Elizabeth Amendt presented on their experience with decorating the Lutheran Hour float for the Tournament of Roses Parade this past December in a talk titled “I Love a Parade”. Her photos of many of this year’s floats and the history behind the parade made for a fun session.
At the beginning of the semester, we circulated a poll among the ESL group members asking for their preferred presentation topics. The results have helped us to schedule presentations that meet their need and interests. Requested topics include:
- How to Buy a Car (and How to Sell One)
- Valentine’s Day
- Gardening (especially container gardens – for our apartment dwelling students) *
- Oklahoma Weather *
- Law Enforcement and the Police*
- Native Americans in Oklahoma
* Denotes an upcoming presentation
We have a small (6 – 8) group of committed attendees, but the attendance can increase to as many as 12. We also have two students this semester who drive all the way from Stillwater to attend on most Saturdays (so far OSU doesn’t have a group).
We still need presenters for some requested topics this semester:
- Famous Oklahomans
- Oklahoma History
- Journalism in the US
If you would be willing to present, please speak to Vickie Zubialde. It’s easier than you think, and we can help you put the presentation together.
