Trinity Lutheran Church offers an “English as a Second Language” conversation group. Every year students, researchers, and visiting professors from all over the world (and their families) come to Norman and to the OU community. On Saturday mornings, volunteers from Trinity present talks on topics of interest from Oklahoma and American culture, followed by English language practice in small groups. A Bible study is also offered, and there are wonderful opportunities to make friendships along the way. Join us for one Saturday or for more – no obligation. You’ll be glad you did!

NOVEMBER NEWS
The interest in the ESL conversation group continues to bring us new contacts. Home game days are a challenge to our attendance because of VERY limited parking options – especially for our students! But on other Saturdays, we frequently have one or two new attendees joining us for “Culture and Conversation” gatherings. This past Saturday we had a new member from Bangladesh join us. Also, one of our recent new members asked us if we might have a presentation of “Religions in the US”. She has been attending different religious gatherings – including Christian churches in Norman – and tells us that she is curious and wants to learn more. This is just what Vicar Horn has been hoping for as he is preparing a talk for the whole group on that very topic.
Also, as we inch closer to the “festival” part of the church year, we are also planning some special activities for the group. We have a “Thanksgiving meal” planned for November 22. This is always a highlight as we volunteers bring traditional American holiday foods, and the group members often bring special foods from their home countries to share with us.
We have plans for special activities in December, too, but that’s for next month . . .
Prayer requests:
- For A, who is curious about religions – especially about Jesus.
- For Z, whose toddler daughter has some concerning medical issues.
- For all of our group members, that God would make them “curious” about Him and His Word.
- For Vicar Horn, as he prepares to answer questions God has raised in the minds of our students.
As usual, we extend an invitation to join us for any of our Saturday meetings or our special activities. Because we may meet at church or elsewhere on home game days, it is a good idea to email us to check on the location. Send us questions or emails about your interest to vickieloemker.1@gmail.com or john.p.zubialde@gmail.com
We hope to see you at one of the group meetings!
