HINNERS ORGAN DEDICATION AND CONCERT
Sunday February 11, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.
(Reception Following)
603 Classen Blvd. Norman, Oklahoma 73071
This Hinners Organ Opus 1024 is the oldest pipe organ (built in 1909) original to Oklahoma. It was in the sanctuary of the German Methodist Church at Lee and 8th St. in Oklahoma City and was damaged by the Murrah Building bombing on April 19, 1995.
The organ was purchased and removed from that site, and was completely restored by the American Organ Institute, University of Oklahoma.
It is now installed in our sanctuary. We invite everyone to the dedication concert in our church. This organ will now serve our parish as well as the community and bring wonderful music to the ears of all who hear it!
Silviya Mateva will be the organist for this dedication concert. The team from OU who worked on the organ will also be present. Dr. John Schwandt, the head of the Organ Department at OU, will also speak and explain the amazing story of how this organ has come to us.
We are also establishing a “Trinity Lutheran Church Organist Scholarship” at OU which will be given to future organ students at OU who can play a recital for us in our sanctuary every year.
We invite you to be with us as we rejoice in the gift of this pipe organ to the glory of the Holy Trinity!
We have attached a poster about the event and a bulletin insert, if you would like to use them.
